Flexographic printing

Flexographic printing is a relief printing process.

and is based on the principle that a raised printing plate is inked with printing ink and the ink is transferred to the plastic film by pressing it onto the plate.

In so-called reverse printing, the print is on the inside and the print image achieves a special effect (gloss, color intensity) thanks to the transparent outer layer of the film. In contrast, in surface printing, the print is on the outside of the printed film. With intermediate layer printing, the print image is between two or more layers of film. To achieve this, another film is applied after reverse printing using a lamination process. This has now become the standard procedure in the food industry.
